KNS Architects crafts a gallery-esque high-end chair showroom for Office Ideas in Mumbai, where the products are showcased as works of art…

Zeroing in a hexagonal form as the primary design inspiration, different geometrical shapes are derived to break the symmetry of the 2,000 sq. ft. area of the commercial outfit by stretching and pulling the form for a playful variation.

These variations are then stacked at different levels to create platforms of variegated sizes, highlighted and differentiated with the use of 3-D solid and translucent surfaces. Designed to add movement and character to the space, these pedestal-esque platforms dramatize set-ups for display of fanciful residential and commercial chairs.

Diligently crafted in tandem with a series of lighting experiences, these Corian and frosted glass platforms elicit a keen sense of awe and intrigue, whilst the scenography provides a neutral yet animated backdrop in an artistic blend of material and forms.

“Since natural light was almost absent, artificial lighting became the key element of design,” emphasizes Ar. Neemesh Shah of KNS Architects. Keeping the overall shell dimly lit, spotlights show off the colours and textures of the products in their true form. In addition, reconfigurable LED track lights are used to enable a modular and flexible store layout.

But what really impresses is that despite the site being static, the architects have created a suspended ceiling with mezzanine levels and overhung pods that augment spaciousness, drama and interest. The cantilevered volume houses the back office and meeting rooms in addition to enhanced display options.  KNS Architects crafts a gallery-esque high-end chair showroom

Use of clear glass fosters a visual connectedness and openness within the overall space, whilst materials such as wood, white laminate and mirror harmonise a unified feel. To add a sense of depth, horizontal wooden bands are positioned as angular planes running along the length of the entire showroom, augmenting depth; whereas grey mirrored surfaces anoint the back wall – creating an illusion of additional space. The neutral river-washed black granite flooring sustains the simplicity of the material palette with LEDs inserted into the flooring to subtly differentiate various brands offered by the company as well as further amplify the perception of depth. Deliberate use of glass for the façade allows a passer-by a peek into the store and the intriguing mezzanine area, arousing just the right amount of curiosity for perhaps,

2028 Could Be the Year for the Final Olympics

2028 Could Be the Year for the Final Olympics
2022 Beijing Winter Olympics will be coming soon. The government introduced major changes in infrastructure and interested citizens to join in winter sports. As everyone knows, behind prosperity, many stubborn cancers are causing games around the world to be non-healing. The Olympics now weave the carnival itself because of its destruction.

One by One Scandal and Institutional Corruption

In the story that the 2012 Olympic city candidate bought more than IOC members and IOC members accepted the bribe was revealed through the Buying the Games program broadcast on BBC Panorama on August 4, 2014. After the broadcast, IOC president Jacques Rogge promised publicly that steps – the steps needed to investigate the purchase event in the 2012 Olympic bid charged in the documentary.

Meanwhile, the medial side also revealed that the same bribery also took place at the 2002 Winter Olympics. After that, FIFA 2015 and IAAF were also involved in a bribery scandal. Issues such as fake games and doping scandals that conflict with fair competition also make sustainable Olympic developments uncertain.

Many stories around the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics aroused suspicion. For example, as planned, the alpine ski area and layered racecourse will be built in the core area of the Beijing National Songshan reserve. A large number of valuable species such as Lonicera oblata and Cypripedium shanxiense S. C. Chen are found here and many of them can not be preserved through ex situ conservation.

Many Chinese environmental biologists and environmentalists consider that if Olympic venues are developed in such areas, endangered species and integrated ecological environments will be disastrous. The Chinese government intends to get rid of the area from the sanctuary range and choose another area with some rare species as its reserves. In addition, comments on strict adherence to the laws and protection of Songshan National reserves have been widely removed or restricted in China. All these actions have been criticized by some media and biological professionals in China.

Currently, the International Olympic Committee and Beijing Olympic Committee have not provided an explanation for the criticism.

Frequent Doping and Frequency

120 metals, including 41 gold, 36 silver and 43 bronze, have been seized or changed from 1912 to 8 December 2016 (the metal shortage started in 1968). The main reason is doping, while other actions include incorrect acts in the event (2 metals) and false identity (1 medal).
In fact, doping for athletes, bribery for judges and other unfair treatment can always be found in the field all over the world, while the Olympics are the terribly miserable areas of this “accident”. At the Rio Games, nearly 100 Russian athletes are banned for doping. After that, according to documents destroyed by Russian hackers, more than 1000 American athletes took the illegal drugs, but none were punished. 2028 Could Be the Year for the Final Olympics

The former French ice-dancer Sophie Moniotte once stated publicly that, “Our sport has gangrene, in most sports doping is the problem, with figure skating, it’s a deal and a manipulation.” This is nothing new to the figure skating scandal. Almost every World Championships and Olympics have a dispute score and shady deal on the judges. However, it is always left uneasy because of the patience and dishonesty of the organization.

Input-Output is not balanced

On July 31, 2015, Beijing successfully bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Before the last vote, Kraków (Poland), Lviv (Ukraine), Stockholm (Sweden) and Oslo (Norway) quit the Winter Olympic bid one by one and the main reason was Financial Problem.

As the largest sports party in the world, the Olympics has always been a big event favored by various countries. Although the Olympics looked crowded, the value of hosting is always questionable. For example, billions of dollars for budget, enormous resource occupation and summons in a short time and a waste of resources because of the lack of future operations are the focus of attention all along. The famous Montreal Olympic Games pay their debts for 30 years. For the Japanese Winter Olympics, even the bidding financial records have been burned down, while the Rio Olympics are making the sluggish economy in Brazil worse. 2028 Could Be the Year for the Final Olympics

According to a study in the host cities from 1962 to 2012 by the University of Oxford, the actual expenditure to organize Olim

Using EHIC in Belgium: What is Covered

Using EHIC in Belgium: What is Covered

Each country has a different system in terms of health care, but in the EU, as long as you have a Safe European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), you are entitled to reciprocal medical treatment. While this is reassuring for regular travelers, it should be reiterated that reciprocal deals do not mean that you will receive the same treatment as you do with the NHS in the UK. Pay to do your research before you travel and always have one yearly travel or annual travel insurance.
Belgium is an EU country and a popular destination for weekend breaks. It is also in a place that people often drive through on their way to other destinations. With valid EHIC, health care can be accessed at low speed or even free depending on how urgent the treatment is. However there are certain things you should know if you need health care in Belgium.

Using EHIC in Belgium: What is Covered

What is EHIC Cover?

The majority of health professionals in Belgium work on a private and public basis, so when you access care, it is vital that you make sure you are seen by a state-funded general practitioner. Only one trip or an annual travel insurance policy that covers private health care. This is very important in case you ask your hotel or vacation representative to call the doctor for you so you make sure they call the general person. Costs incurred when using a personal doctor can not be replaced by EHIC.

If you need health care in Belgium, you may be asked to pay a fee directly to the doctor. You can then reclaim 75% of the cost while you are still in Belgium. You will need receipts to claim the money back as well as the official form, which can be obtained at the doctor or dentist you see. Of course, if you have annual travel insurance or even a single travel policy, you should be able to refund the entire cost.

What about hospitalization? Using EHIC in Belgium: What is Covered

Again, going to a hospital is not free in Belgium. There is a fixed daily charge of about fifteen euros with the cost of drugs on top of that. If you show your EHIC when you confess that you only need to pay the patient fee and avoid paying a down payment that can be refunded.

And Recipe … Using EHIC in Belgium: What is Covered

The recipes must be paid when purchased at the pharmacy but with EHIC you can reclaim 75% when you were in Belgium. With one trip or an annual travel insurance policy, you may be able to reclaim your full costs. Calling 090010500 takes you to the 24-hour pharmacy information line, telling you the location closest to the open one.

While EHIC is a useful part of the documentation, if you want peace of mind with respect to health care while traveling to Belgium, or indeed any other country, invest in insurance. Annual travel insurance is the best option if you plan on doing more than one trip a year.

This collection of porcelain art in Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of China is a breath-taking sight of ingenuity – the Sanbao Art Museum!
Sanbao village, a scenic place not far from the Central City of Jingdezhen in China, hosts a nascent, dynamic, porcelain-centric hub with porcelain artists’ studios and porcelain-related industries, causing a highly competitive environment, where it takes great ingenuity and endless efforts to be the best. The relationship between the artists and their creation is sort of romantic, like the feeling of first love: indirect probing, exploring, negotiating and subtle manoeuvring. And the transformation in the pottery kilns is like the process of developing films – full of uncertainties; like the photographers’ having projected their best imaginations onto the films, but results will be unravelled only after the mandatory stint in the dark room!

But it is these very risks and uncertainties that mandate detail and delicacy; brain power juxtaposed against a passionate song in the heart… romanticism at its best!

An art museum in this milieu not just builds an interactive space to encourage reciprocal communication between visitors and the space, both emotionally and behaviourally, it inculcates sensitivity and imagination. The museum is a visually linear shape, 150m long, but the visiting flow is nonlinear, with visitors having multiple paths to explore. The purpose is to boost serendipity between people and spaces. Architecture creates the atmosphere with which visitors have personal connections. Walls, the most important part at shaping exhibition space and atmosphere, are made of rammed earth to offer a poetic feeling. The main passage is a long transparent space, 100m; around which rammed-earth walls, 4m high, grow from earth.

Major materials used in building the museum, such as rammed earth, titanium zinc panels and travertine, will be eroded by time. This process of erosion is like the fermentation of wine, time gives its unique flavour. In addition, Sanbao village naturally produces unique soil, slightly red in colour, so the continuous loam walls are built with local clay, delivering a certain familiarity and tension.

Experiences vary, when visitors walk through different areas, attracted by the outstretched eaves after the woods area. The sound from the creeks relaxes, whilst what lies ahead leads visitors further into a cryptic but joyful world. Every tour becomes a story between visitors and architecture – a mix of discovery, expectation, waiting, anxiety, disappointment and joy. Auto Insurance and Personal Injury When to Get Legal Help

Auto Insurance and Personal Injury When to Get Legal Help

If you are injured in a car accident as a driver, a pedestrian, a cyclist, or a passenger, you may want to seek the help of a personal injury lawyer in Sarasota. Their legal expertise can protect you from legal action against others and help you receive the financial compensation and medical care you deserve. Most importantly, though, they can help you against an aggressive car insurance company.

Auto Insurance and Personal Injury When to Get Legal Help

So when should a lawyer get involved in your situation? Learn more with this easy-to-use guide.

What are they doing

Personal injury lawyers provide legal services to ordinary people who have been injured in an accident. No matter what the role of a person in an accident, they can be hurt by someone else’s carelessness, deliberate harm, or negligence.

The lawyer can also work as a personal advocate for you in the face of a major auto insurance company, who has dedicated a team of paid attorneys to find loopholes and technical limitations so that people like you do not receive fair compensation.

If you suffer severe injuries, expensive medical bills, lost wages due to inability to work after an accident, or other personal or financial damages after an accident, you deserve compensation, especially if you suffer permanent injuries. However, sometimes car insurance companies refuse to help you. This is when an attorney can help you and fight for your compensation.

Disputed duty Auto Insurance and Personal Injury When to Get Legal Help

One of the most difficult ways a car insurance company can try to avoid mistakes and refuse to compensate you is with disputed accountability. This is a tactic where the insurance company claims that you are wrong because of your own injury. They may try to blame you, accusing you of causing the accident to be financially deliberate, or even claiming that their policyholder is not responsible for the accident. They may even try to blame a third party who is not involved in an insurance claim or write it as pure death on any side.

In this case, personal injury lawyers in Sarasota will use their legal knowledge to prove that the person who caused the accident was guilty and will force their insurance company to compensate for any injuries and other damages. Whether they deny responsibility, try to delay payments to you, or refuse to pay the compensation you deserve, professional legal assistance is your ticket for recovery.

Feel the Thrill of a French Ryder Cup

Feel the Thrill of a French Ryder Cup

A Ryder Cup on the Continent is a rare thing. The last time the United States and Europe tussled on European soil was in 1997 at Valderrama Golf Club in Spain. That edition was a nail-biter, with the home team narrowly coming through by a margin of 14½ to 13½. Next year, however, the event will return to Europe once again: the Albatros Course of Le Golf National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines will serve as the venue from 28 to 30 September.
To make the most of the upcoming Ryder Cup, 2018 will see European Waterways offering golf fans and Francophiles alike a wonderful opportunity: a chartered golf cruise through France and the chance to be at Le Golf National to watch the world’s best competing for the game’s most coveted trophy. Here’s hoping that the 42nd Ryder Cup will be just as exciting and dramatic the one in 1997!

Enhance your Game on the Renaissance

Whether you choose to embark before the tournament begins to get you in the mood or decide to join a charter after the final putt is made, the hotel barge Renaissance will make sure you have many opportunities to hone your own game. As Renaissance wends its way along the Loire, it will stop at a number of quintessentially Gallic courses, such as at Château Cely and Fontainebleau.

The Ryder Cup is always a special event, but we think that next year’s is going to be a particularly exceptional one. 2018 is going to be the year when our dedicated European golf cruise truly comes into its own.

Home Soil – A Home Win?

To get your appetite whetted in advance, here’s a preview of the Ryder Cup 2018. Having comfortably beaten the European contingent with 17 points to 11 at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota in 2016, the Americans, led by Jim Furyk, will be hoping to retain the Cup for the first time since 1993. Under the captaincy of Danish golfer Thomas Bjørn, Europe will hope that playing on home soil and the backing of the crowd will spur them on to wrest back the Cup.

As for the venue, the 18-hole L’Albatros is certainly a course befitting of such an illustrious competition. British golfer Lee Westwood encapsulated the thoughts of many of his fellow players when stating that it is his “favourite course in Europe” and that it “would make a great Ryder Cup venue”. Finished in 1990, it has acquired something of a reputation for its final 4 holes. The various water challenges to be found here are sure to test the mettle of players from both sides throughout the Ryder Cup – 2018 could see a real classic. There’ll be no such challenges for spectators, though, as L’Albatros is widely considered to provide one of the best viewing experiences in the world.

This Diwali, flaunt your individualistic style

This Diwali, flaunt your individualistic style to make your home your haven. Team IAnD speaks to select design doyens to tell you how…

Are you deluged with ideas for the festive season; but most seem far-fetched or a little cumbersome to accomplish?! Well, here is a handy round-up of absolutely do-able stuff that will complement your personal aesthetics as well as your pocket!

Team IAnD sought the counsel of five designers, who’ve always exhibited an unrestrained style in all they do. Here are their expert inputs for you:

Shabnam Gupta of The Orangelane (known for turning quirk to flamboyance) says: A great way to enhance your abode this festive season is to start with the entryway. Adorning your door with some antique lamp or fun lampshade will instantly brighten up your space. Placing potted ferns, flowers and potpourri can also make a difference; or just adorn a pretty vase complementing it with aromatic candles.

Speaking of candles, designers Raseel Gujral of Casa Pop (known for her uninhibited décor style) and Prashant Chauhan of Zero9 (known for his classic sensitivity in stylising spaces) also recommend the inclusion of lots of candles around the home; some creatively carved to add intrigue and a touch of glamour!

Looking around your home, says Shabnam, rearrange the furniture, if you can. This itself will bring about a sea-change. Dig into stuff packed away and consider hanging the old kilim on the wall – simple; yet totally dramatic – this will add an inviting appeal to your living room or even bedroom.

Or if rearranging is not the option for you, says Nina Puri of Sanjay Puri Architects (known for her chic, understated balance in interiors), try draping an old dupatta or stole on one end of the sofa or even the bed; gives the room a new appeal. You can also throw in some colourful covers on your cushions and add to their numbers to create an inviting warmth in the interior; or even add in lots of indoor plants, pipes in Prashant Chauhan.

Accessorising is an all-important part of your décor and especially with the festive fervour, designer Priyanka P of PS Design (known for her remarkable touch of glamour to everyday settings), suggests that you go seasonal by taking a large urli and filling it with water and marigolds or even rose petals. Placed at the entrance, this is the warmest welcome you could essay for your guests. Also, she continues, try framing an old picture – maybe from your travels – in a large format, and use it add to a dramatic effect to the room.

Group accessories in an eclectic way, suggests Nina Puri; they can be combined to effect a narrative and create a pocket of interest in your décor.

Above all, preserve your individuality, when you are exploring latest trends and picking new designs to decorate your interiors, advises Raseel Gujral. Opt to uplift the mood of your interiors by making the space more lived in and young, rather than overstatedly decorated with too many loud pieces. Add life and vigour to your space with casually strewn cushions, creatively carved candles, decorative pieces drenched in pastels and bright colours and a lot of florals, she continues.  This Diwali, flaunt your individualistic style

Identify designs that allow you to channel your energy towards happiness. The simplicity of a breathable space is also often the pathway to establish peace in your home décor. Avoid adding too much noise to open spaces by incorporating too many elements to it. Choose to accentuate the minimalist taste with standout sculptures, intricately designed chandeliers and trunks, elegant jewellery boxes, glass crafts and lamps, concludes Raseel.

Our special thank-you to designer Nina Puri for having tailored this bespoke idea – exclusively for you – the readers of India Art n Design (dot) com.

Here’s the simply beautiful DIY that can uplift and add a spark to any décor: Take some differently sized glasses – any glasses – and turn them upside down. Below the glasses, feel free to add some bits of coloured paper, rose petals, confetti, coloured baubles…Now place your T-lights on

Cruising the Waterways: Spontaneous Moments and Cultural Experiences

Cruising the Waterways: Spontaneous Moments and Cultural Experiences

For the uninitiated, the idea of a barge holiday may seem like an odd way to see a country. However, ask anyone who has travelled the waterways of Europe and they will explain with gusto the beauty of cruising through foreign landscapes, tasting gourmet food and wine and learning about local culture and customs.
A barge holiday offers an intimate and immersive way to explore a new place. Not only will you get a novel perspective of the landscape from your position on the water, you will gain inimitable insights from experiences catered to your own tastes and interests.

Spontaneous Moments

Though a barge holiday with European Waterways is always meticulously planned, the gentle rhythm of travel allows plenty of time to become acquainted with some of the more unusual aspects of a country or region. Of course, we enjoy showing guests iconic architecture and famous landmarks, we know that they equally appreciate unplanned, authentic moments where they can truly connect to people and places.

This is what we call an ‘insider experience’: an experience possibly unique to the small group of people travelling on your hotel barge creating a memory you will cherish forever.

We love spontaneous moments in which our guests can form relationships with people they meet along the journey. For example, one memorable afternoon our guests were treated to a private tour of a Burgundian lock-keeper’s immaculate garden and cottage before being asked to share a glass of Pastis. They bravely joined him in a game of boules and though our guests played valiantly they were thoroughly beaten by the locals! In the past, our holiday-makers have received a tour of the beautifully tended grounds of a Scottish castle and given a knowledgeable talk by the head gardener.

As many of our guests are wine connoisseurs, we often seek out interesting wine-related adventures. One fortunate group were shown round a beautiful Renaissance castle by the owner himself. The count then took his fascinated visitors down into his excellent wine cellar – we were all very envious! There is also a certain wooden boat on the River Loire well-known to our guests. The hospitable owner is very happy to share a carafe of crisp white wine with his passengers.

Cultural Experiences

We try and lead our guests away from the typical tourist haunts and introduce them to locals whenever possible. From master clockmakers in Holland to builders in a Thames-side boatyard, these craftsmen always have stories to tell and are a fantastic way to tap into the rich history of the waterways. We encourage an appreciation of traditional values and skills – whether the job is the manoeuvring of delicate cogwheels or the creation of an entire vessel, you’ll be impressed! Meeting and learning from locals is one of the best ways to gain a comprehensive cultural knowledge of a region that a guide book just couldn’t deliver.

If you crave a real understanding of the places you visit then maybe a barge holiday is just what you’re looking for.
